And the next project is....Youth Day at the Credit Union, in celebration of National Credit Union Youth Week. We'll have the Coca Cola Hot Dog Trailer at the Arnett Branch to serve hot dogs and chips out of. We'll need some voluteers to serve the hotdogs and volunteers to cook the hotdogs. If you can help, call the credit union and speak with Debbie. Volunteers are asked to be here by 1:30 and the start time for the event is 3:00 pm. This promises to be a fun event!

Easter Egg Hunt!

What can I say??? Retirees ROCK! and that's a fact! The Easter Egg Hunt was enjoyed by so many children - and seeing their smiling faces and hearing their joyous laughter made the effort worthwhile. But we couldn't have done it without the help of the wonderful Retirees that volunteered their afternoon to help set up and work the event. A very special and heartfelt thanks to Harold and Patsy Debrou, Betty Woodson, Earl Guill, Eva and Edward Smith, Kenny Durham, Ray Parks, Barb and John Fry, and Kenny Stevens. If I left out anyone, please let me know, so that I can correct it - but I just again want to say that the URW Retirees ROCK!

Today's the Day for Volunteers!

We have all the food for the Easter Egg Hunt at the Credit Union, so we're taking it all the the Park, along with the eggs, Giant Bunnies and soft drinks. We have to get over to the Coca Cola Bottling Co early and pick up coolers for the soft drinks - and then we'll be ready to roll! Volunteers to hide eggs please come at 1:30 to Shelter 17 at Dan Daniel Park and cooks - be there about 3:30. Thanks for your help. The Retirees Rock!

Calling all Trucks!

We are going to need someone to pick up three coolers from the Coca Cola Bottling Co. the day of the Easter Egg Hunt. These coolers are tall so a truck is needed to transport them to the Park, as well as take them back after the hunt that evening.

We also need someone with a truck to pick up the food and related items from Dan Valley Foods that day as well. This will probably need to be picked up on Wednesday or Thursday morning at the latest, so that the chili will have time to thaw.

If you will volunteer, please let someone know on the Retiree Board, or call Debbie Sparks at 434-250-1577 or at the office at 434-793-1278.

Highlights from the Annual Meeting

The new Board for the upcoming year (Kenny Stevens, Barbara Fry, Sec./Treas., Jack Dodson, Ray Parks, President, Earl Guill, Willie Fitzgerald, not pictured, Charles Denny, Vice-President):

The Annual Meeting for the URW Retirees' Club was held April 2, 2009 at Poogie's Buffet at 11:30 a.m. Poogie's has wonderful food and the attendees enjoyed their choice of a large buffet menu! Richard Shumate presided over the meeting, which was his last as President of the Club. Jack Dodson told club members that Mr. Shumate was "hanging it up" this year, and the nominating committee wanted to present their slate of officers for the upcoming year to include their nomination for President, Mr. Ray Parks. There were no further nominations from the floor and the club voted in the slate of officers - all remaining the same, with exception of the new President. Also, as an added item of interest, Nancy Guill presented important information about the stimulus payment to be expected later in the spring. And this must have been Ray Parks' lucky day - he won the 50/50!
